About Us
Who We Are
Good Shepherd of the Hills is a small and lively mission
congregation. We are friendly, welcoming and informal. We hold worship
at Alpine Community Church while we plan for and dream of a permanent
facility on our beautiful site on Tavern at Oak Haven.
Worship is
at 10:30 A.M. and Holy Communion is offered each Sunday. All are welcome at the Lord’s table. Sunday School
is held during church service and is taught by our well-qualified staff.
Good
Shepherd is a special group of people who love the Lord and who
know and love each other, too. We promise you will not get lost
or go unnoticed with us!
Our History
Good Shepherd of the Hills was started on All Saints’ Sunday,
November 1982.
A group of Lutherans interested in starting a congregation in Alpine
met for worship. At the end of that service, they chose the name “Good
Shepherd of the Hills” and have met faithfully to worship
the Lord each Sunday since then. Our denomination acquired our
site for
us in 1984 and we paid off the loan December, 2004.
Our Future
Many ask us, “When will you build a church?” We
reply, “We
already are a church!” We do not know when we will be able
to build a permanent facility, but we know that God has a plan
for our future. As we strengthen our faith to rely on our Lord,
we look
to the future with hope.
